Season 2: Episode 23- The Frequency of Emotions: How to Actually Raise Your Vibration


Hello my friends, I am so excited to dive into this topic today because what we're going to talk about completely changed how I understood emotions and manifestation and truly creating the life that I desire and that is that your emotions have a frequency and when you understand that, you can learn how to actually raise your vibration. Not theoretically, you get to actually raise your vibration. And you may have noticed that I'm talking about frequency a lot lately. I had the heart frequency episode, the kindness frequency episode. And so that made me think like, you know what, I really should share this work. That has helped me so much when you look at the frequency of emotions, it makes such a big difference. And if you've been in the spiritual and personal development world, or even if you're not, you've definitely heard the phrase of raising your vibration. It's thrown around everywhere. It's become almost cliche, right? But it has great intention behind it, so I do love it. But...


What I want to share with you today is that your emotions are of course the feelings that you experience, but they're also literally frequencies. They are measurable energetic states that determine what you attract, how you show up, and what becomes possible in your life. And there are two incredibly powerful frameworks that I learned this from that I'm gonna share with you today. So the first is from Abraham Hicks who created the emotional guidance scale. So we'll get into that. The second one is from Dr. David R. Hawkins who developed the map of consciousness and this is a really cool one that I can't wait to share with you. Both of these teachers have given us maps or truly blueprints for understanding where we are emotionally and how to move up the scale. literally how to raise our vibration. So what I want to show you today is how to actually use this information in your real life because understanding the concept is one thing. I nerd out on this stuff. I love it so much. But knowing how to apply it when you are stressed or overwhelmed or scared or stuck. That is where the real work happens and it's where the real change happens. So let's dive into that. First, let's talk about what we mean by frequency when it comes to emotions. So as you've heard me say, everything in the universe is energy and that is not just spiritual talk, that's physics.


So yes, your thoughts, your emotions, your body, but also the chair and objects around you, they're all actually vibrating just at different frequencies. So your emotional state determines your vibrational frequency.


And what does that look like in these frameworks? So first, let's talk about the Abraham Hicks one and the emotional guidance scale. So Abraham Hicks is channeled through Esther Hicks. And they created this scale in their book called Ask and It Is Given. And it lists 22 emotions ranging from the highest vibrations like joy and appreciation, and empowerment and freedom and love, all the way down to the lowest vibrations like fear and grief and depression and despair and powerlessness. And what I love about this Abraham's Hicks scale is that it is designed to be used practically. It is not ever about shaming yourself for being in a low vibration. It's bringing an awareness to where you are and it's about reaching for the next better feeling thought. So I love that what they are teaching is you're not trying to jump from depression to joy in one leap, right? That doesn't work. You move up the emotional ladder one rung at a time, which is so beautiful and so empowering in and of itself, right?


So the second framework by Dr. David R. Hawkins is the map of consciousness. And he was a psychiatrist, a spiritual teacher, a researcher who spent over 20 years calibrating emotions. So he used muscle testing to do this. And he published his findings in the book, Power Versus Force. And so he created this scale from 1 to a thousand that measures the frequency of different emotional states. So I don't know if you've ever seen this diagram that actually lists out these emotions. And what I like about looking at both of the two different frameworks is they list out different ones, right? So it's really fascinating to look at. But so on his scale that he published in he put out in the world for practitioners to use is that shame is the lowest level emotion, which I found fascinating, but that it calibrates at a frequency of 20. So, you know, close to zero. And then I won't go through all of them, but, know, so then fear is at a hundred. So remember a thousand is the top, right? So fear is still down there and low, but you've moved up a few emotions to get to fear, and that's at 100. And then the turning point is courage. And courage vibrates at a frequency of 200. So it's where you shift from your energy being drained to your energy being empowered. And also, for example, love is at a 500. And enlightenment, which I might want to translate into as bliss is at a 700 up to a thousand. And so I just love Hawkins work. I love looking at the scale because it shows us that these aren't just concepts that actually make sense when you see them measured out, that your emotions carry these actual energetic frequencies that affect not only us,


But because this is a vibrational frequency, it affects everyone around us. so both of these frameworks are teaching us the same truth, even though they use a little bit different path and words to get there. But the truth is that where you are emotionally matters because it determines your experience of reality. An important concept to hold onto here is that the goal is not to always be in joy or love or enlightenment, or I mean, maybe it is for like monks, right? I guess it is. And of course, with what I'm teaching, I always want to help us get closer to that. But I don't ever want people to beat themselves up for being in a low vibe state because a lot of the lower vibe emotions are a natural part of the course of life, Like grief and anger and guilt. Like those are things that all of us experience, right? So we don't want to beat ourselves up for being low vibe. That is not how this works. You are allowed to feel your feelings and it's super important to feel your feelings because otherwise you're bypassing that spiritual bypassing or personal development bypassing and you don't want to bypass any of those. The reason this is powerful is that the goal is to not get stuck there. The goal is to understand where you are on the scale, honor it in the moment, and then gently reach for something that feels a little bit better.


Because we cannot fake our way to a higher vibration, right? When you are really in a moment, I mean, I can think of examples for myself. If I am very, very stressed out, worried about one of my kids and something that they're going through, then for me to just try and jump up into joy is gonna be very hard to do, even though that's is a concept that I love to teach. But from a practical manner, if you are in a state of fear, if you're in a state of fear, it is very hard to just jump up to joy. That's a huge jump in the scale. And when I have tried to do it, if I tried to fake that in a meditation and that I'm trying to move the heavier energy, that doesn't work. And so when you're in fear, like you actually can just move up a couple of notches into anger, and that can have its own sacred place. And then you move up a couple of notches to courage and change it there instead of trying to jump all the way to joy, right? Because again, that would be the spiritual bypassing. And it's so common because we do want to, you know, get out of the negative vibe states or we just want to squash them down.


So when we just slap a gratitude practice on top of that fear or force ourselves to say affirmations when actually we're in like grief or despair that we think something's going to shift. But that is where this needs practical application because you cannot fake your frequency. You actually really need to embody it. Your body knows, your nervous system knows, and of course, the universe knows. yeah, I mean, like I was sharing in my own examples for everyone, if you're vibrating at this fear level, let's look at what that number is. So fear again is a number 100 and joy is a number 540. So your system is just going to reject it because the embodiment can't be there.


When you try to do that, it actually makes you feel worse because now you're not only, you know, scared or worried or whatever's causing this emotion of fear, but you're also feeling like a failure for not being able to manifest your way out of it, right? That actually drives me crazy. The part of the spiritual world that talks about manifestation, it of just like you just have to step into the frequency. Well, the reason that it's not working for so many people is they're trying to jump too far. You have to jump in these next best feelings, right? That is where the Abraham Hicks emotional guidance scale. It's just so brilliant. You want to reach for the next better feeling emotion, not the top of the scale.


So like in my example of jumping from fear to anger, where that works and is powerful is because anger has energy in it. Anger says, I'm not okay with this. I'm going to do something about it. Whereas fear is just saying, I'm powerless and I'm stuck. So anger in that context is progress. And from anger, you can reach for frustration and then you can reach into say hopefulness and then you can reach into optimism and then you can reach for joy and that's a different it's a little bit different words and from the Dr. Hawkins scale but they're getting to the same place right it's a ladder and you climb it one step at a time.


And so just remember to create this awareness and you have to meet yourself where you are right now. And honestly, like if you were grieving, I think that is one of the most important emotions to allow yourself to sit in. So it is, it's actually a beautiful process to grieve, right? So let yourself grieve. And if you're angry, the world has got lots of heavy stuff to be angry about. It is okay to let ourselves be angry. That's appropriate, right? The point is we don't want to camp out there. We feel it. We feel it fully. We honor it. And then when we're ready, we ask ourselves, what would feel just a little bit better than this? And that question is gold. That is how you raise your vibration in a real embodied and authentic way.


And so I want to talk a little bit more about that turning point of the number 200, which is the level of courage on Dr. Hawkins' map of consciousness. And everything below that on his scale is shame, guilt, apathy, grief, fear, desire, anger, and pride. And so he describes all of those as contracting energy, right? They're either false, they might lack integrity in some of them, or generally they just don't support energy creation, right? And so if they are draining you and they are keeping you stuck, that is a frequency that makes you feel like life is happening to you. But at that 200 level, where courage kicks in, something shifts. It's the level where you start to take responsibility.


But at that 200 level, something shifts. Courage is that level where you start to take responsibility. It's where you stop being the victim of your circumstances, which is such an important life lesson for me to share with people is notice if you are seeing yourself being the victim. This is the point where you can move from that, walk out of that, start being the creator of your life. So you begin to see that you have that power and you begin to take action and you start to ask, what can I do about this? And that takes courage. And interestingly, from courage, which is at the 200, you move up to neutrality which is interesting that neutrality is listed as an emotion. But if you really think about it, that makes sense. I can see neutrality as an emotion. And that is at a frequency of 250. So that's where you stop resisting what is and you start accepting it. And from neutrality, then you get to move to willingness, which comes in at a frequency of 310. And this is where you become open to growth and learning.


From willingness, you can move into acceptance, which is at 350, and then to reason, which is at 400. Isn't that interesting that reason as an emotion vibrates at 400? It's actually just below love. So that's the beautiful turning point that I'm always looking for. So he says the turning point is at 200. Love comes in at 500. So this is not romantic love. This is the unconditional love. This is where you see life as happening for you instead of to you. And hopefully this is where like the little everyday miracles become normal.


Now, in saying all of that, you don't have to be at 500 all the time to live a good life. And you don't have to get all the way up to 700 or 1000 to be enlightened and that's what's going to make you happy. No. The beautiful thing here is that we just need to be above 200, right? We just have to be in a place where we're taking responsibility, where we're in our own power and we're willing to grow. And so if you're listening to this and you're thinking, you know, like life's been rough or I'm just so angry about what's going on in the world that, you know, feeling anything above love for my family is really hard to grasp. Like thinking about joy or thinking about peace, which resonate higher than love feels frustrating and that's okay. So then just allow yourself to be at the courage point, Be at the courage point, be at the willingness and acceptance point and just focus on a moment where you can say, know what? I am going to do something about how I feel, about what my frequency is, about how I am vibrating. So that's the shift. That's where everything changes. It's just this awareness and the choice.


Okay, so now that you understand those frameworks, let's talk in a little more detail about the practical ways to incorporate this into our, you know, messy, real human lives, right? So, my go-to strategies is what we just talked about, that you wanna identify where you are on the scale. So, you can't shift if you don't know where you're starting from, right? This is about having awareness and intention in our lives. So just pause and ask yourself, what am I feeling right now? Do I feel fear and anger or frustration? Do I feel contentment? Do I feel that love and joy? You can name it and locate it on the scale. And that in and of itself creates that super powerful awareness which gives you choice. When you name an emotion, you name the feeling, you are no longer unconsciously stuck in it. You're observing it and when you can observe it, you can shift it. And if you're in joy, amazing. You don't have to shift that, right? Just keep yourself there asking for more or sealing in the feeling so that you know how to come back to that vibration of joy. And so again, then the next thing that you do is you reach for the next better feeling thought. That is straight from Abram Hicks. It's how they teach it and it works. You don't try to leap from depression to joy. You just ask yourself, what would feel just a little bit better than what I'm feeling right now? And again, like if that, if you're feeling despair, what feels better than despair? Maybe it's anger. Great. Let yourself be angry. And then from anger, what feels a little bit better? Maybe it's frustration. Great. And then you just keep climbing.


And so the third practical part of this is to change your physiology. So really actually changing the vibration that's happening in your body in the moment. So your emotions are living in your body. We know that, we feel it. And that means that you can shift your frequency by shifting your body. So move and dance, know, go for a walk outside.


Do some breath work, shake your body, put on a song that makes you feel something and let yourself feel it. When I'm in a low vibration, that is my absolute go-to. I will literally put on music, dance around in my living room, even if it's just for one song. It sounds so simple, but it works. Movement shifts energy.


We see this with animals, right? They just inherently automatically know when they're stressed about something, they shake their bodies afterwards, all of them. And we suppress that instinct. And so instead, intentionally use that and do that. And this, of course, brings me into the next practical recommendation, which is to use sound and vibration intentionally.


So of course you're gonna hear that from me, right? We all know this sound is one of my favorite tools. So of course in my world there is sound healing with the singing bowls and chimes and chanting and even humming. All of these things shift your frequency because sound in and of itself is a vibration. And so when you introduce a higher frequency sound into your field, your body and your mind start to entrain with it. And you don't have to have access to sound healing tools. You have the sound of your voice. So you can hum. You can chant, just saying, ohm. All of these things seriously create a vibration. So I invite you to do that right now. Just to hum a little note, feel the vibration in your chest.


And it is instant nervous system regulation. It has also been shown that our voices are attuned to the most healing frequency that we need. So again, our bodies are so magical, created by a higher intelligence, God source universe, giving us all these amazing, beautiful things that you may not have heard that before, but your voice is the most powerful healing tool you have. So you don't have to buy a sound bowl. But you know I love a good sound bath. I actually just facilitated one last night and I think I still feel really at a higher vibrational state from that. So yes, if you're not near me, go find a local sound bath. You can even listen to them online. But also just know that your own voice, humming, singing, it's all going to shift your vibration.


Another practical thing that you can do is surrounding yourself with higher vibration. So that's something that Dr. Hawkins talks extensively about, that your frequency is influenced by the people, the places, and the media that you consume. Who are you around? If you are trying to raise your vibration, you have to be intentional about what you're exposing yourself to. So are you surrounding yourself with people who complain all of the time? Are you watching too much of the news? Are you doom scrolling on social media? I get it. I know that that's a part of all of our lives, but all of that is lowering your frequency. And so I'm not saying that we need to ignore the world or be in denial. This is actually, I think, a point in time in history that it's asking for us to


Do the opposite and be active and be a part of the change that is happening and needs to come. And we have to be in a high vibrational state for this to work. So I am saying be intentional. Limit your exposure to the low vibrational input. Actively seek out high vibration experiences in people. So spend time in nature. Listen to uplifting music be around others who inspire you or that you just have fun with.


And then the last step that really helps raise your vibration is, of course, to practice gratitude and appreciation. This is one of my favorite topics. It is the fastest way I know to shift your vibration. Gratitude and appreciation are both high frequency emotions. I see them as a part of love.


And when you focus on what you're grateful for, you are literally retraining your brain to look for the good. And we all know that what we focus on expands. again, without the spiritual bypassing piece, even when you're in a low vibrational state, see if there's just one little thing that you can appreciate. And maybe it's super simple, like your warm cup of coffee just the fact that you woke up today and that you're breathing. Maybe it's the fact that you want to grow and expand. So just find a little thing that you can appreciate and let appreciation be that first rung as you walk up the ladder.


And again, the final piece that I want to leave with you that we have touched on already, and it's something that Dr. Hawkins also teaches, and it really stayed with me, is the fact that your vibration doesn't just affect you, it's affecting everyone around you. So he explains it. This is fascinating science to me. He explains it that one person vibrating at the level of love, so that 500 level, counterbalances the negativity of 750,000 people vibrating below 200. Like what? I can't even wrap my head around that. He says one person vibrating at peace at 600 counterbalances 10 million people.


So whether you take those exact numbers literally or not, the principle is that when enough of us get to the level of love and then joy and then jump up to peace at that 600 level, when enough of us do that, we are helping raise the vibration of the world. So your frequency matters energy matters and the work that you do to raise your vibration doesn't just change your life. It actually changes the world. It's mind blowing to think about that and so inspirational to do it. Right. So when you shift from fear to courage, from anger to acceptance, from grief to wherever you want to land after grief. That's a touchy one, right? But just know that as you allow yourself to move up that ladder, you're not only healing yourself, which is super important. Please, yes, heal yourself. We all deserve that. But you are contributing to the collective frequency of the planet, of the entire world. And right now, the world needs more people who are willing to do this work. The world needs more people who are choosing love over fear, who are choosing the connection over division, who are choosing courage over apathy. That's a really easy low vibrational state to get into in the chaos that's out there. But then what I really want to help everybody get to on a more regular basis is love and joy and peace. Of course, enlightenment is amazing.


And so know that that's you. That is why you're here. It's why I'm here. It's why this work matters. And again, the next time you're in a low vibration, don't beat yourself up. Don't allow shame to be there for being in a low vibrational state. Just know that you have the power to shift one thought at a time, one emotion at a time, and one step up on the ladder at the time. You're not ever stuck.


You're not ever powerless. You are a vibrational being with the ability to change your frequency. And by doing so, you can change your life and the lives of those around you. Okay, so to recap, emotions are frequencies where you are on the scale matters. And you can't fake your way to a higher vibration, but you can climb your way there one rung at a time.
