Life Purpose & Soul Purpose

Season 2: Episode 5: Life Purpose & Soul Purpose ✨

What if your purpose isn’t something you have to find… but something you’re already living? In this heart-centered episode, Kristin Svets explores the deeper meaning of purpose, beyond titles, careers, or achievements, and invites you to see your life itself as sacred. Through her own journey of transitions, motherhood, and rediscovery, Kristin shares how aligning with your soul purpose brings more peace, clarity, and fulfillment into every season of life.

Key Points:

🌿 Your purpose isn’t a single destination — it’s the journey itself.

🌿 Life purpose evolves with each stage of your life; soul purpose is your true north, the essence that flows through it all.

🌿 Transitions like motherhood or empty nesting often awaken the question, “Who am I now?” and that question can be sacred.

🌿 Defining your core values, mission, and vision creates your spiritual navigation system.

🌿 You can’t “miss” your purpose, it lives in your energy, your presence, and the choices you make every day.

Practical Tips:

Morning Reflection: Ask yourself, What lights me up right now? and let that guide your day.

Revisit Joy: Look back at past seasons, what activities made you feel most alive? Can you bring them forward again?

Define Your Values: Write a list of what truly matters to you today. Let those values become your compass.

Create a Mission & Vision Statement: Treat your life like your most meaningful project, what’s your mission, and how do you want to feel living it?

Listen Inward: Through meditation, breathwork, or journaling, quiet the noise so your inner wisdom can speak.

Journal Prompt:

What moments in my life have made me feel most alive, and what do they reveal about my soul’s purpose?

Season 2: Episode 5- Life Purpose & Soul Purpose ✨

Hello my friend, welcome back. I'm so glad that you are here with me today. This episode is really close to my heart because it's something that I think so many of us wrestle with and that is the topic of purpose. What is my purpose? Am I living it? Did I miss it somehow? I I've asked those questions, especially in seasons where life feels uncertain or in times of transition. And maybe you've been there too, wondering if you're on the right path or if you're supposed to be doing something bigger or different or more meaningful. And here's the truth that I have come to believe is that your purpose isn't a single destination. It isn't a title that you need to achieve or discover. Your soul's path is about the journey. So I truly believe that our life journey itself is the purpose and that we get to create awareness and tweak who we are becoming along the way to step into our highest path, our soul's path and purpose.

So today I'm going to share a little bit of my own story of moments where I've felt lost and uncertain along the way. And then really how I see this difference in life purpose and soul purpose and how shifting into this perspective of the journey being the purpose really changed everything for me. And as you listen, I invite you to hold this question in your heart.

What if you're already living your purpose right here, right now. And what if there are just a few simple adjustments, just shifts that you can make to truly be on your soul's highest path?

Before we dive into that, I did wanna share that I just got back from my retreat in Portugal, but it was actually on the Azores Islands of Portugal. So it's like Portugal's Hawaii. And I was really excited to go and co-host this retreat with my business partner. It was a seven day experience. So that's the longest one we've done together. I co-hosted it with my friend, Beth Miles. She owns Hula Hand Travel. And we have done a couple of other trips that were more like four and five day trips. This was a full week long experience. And what I love about what she and I create together is that she creates these incredible itineraries and incredible experience. We get to do these excursions in classes and every trip has different experiences. And then I bring in, you know my gifts so I'm the yin to the yang so I'm bringing in mindfulness and meditation and breath work and sound baths and the balance of what we create of doing all these incredible adventures and then getting to rest and slow down and adventure inward. I just think it's such a truly special experience and this experience on the Zorius Islands blew me away, so far exceeded even what I hoped for. And I'm just so honored and thrilled that I get to do this and that I've gotten to do it with Beth. And we are planning our next trip for 2026. So please just shoot me an email, reach out through my website or the email is always in the show notes and let me know that you would like to be on the wait list for the 2026 trip. It's really such a gift to yourself to be able to step away from the everyday life and create these bonds with other women. And I would love to chat with you about it. So just reach out to me if it calls to you.

So let's dive in further to this topic of purpose. And I'll share with you a story that I share in my book as well. And it's one of the first times that trying to figure out my purpose really hit me. After I graduated from college, I spent 10 years in corporate. I have my MBA in finance, so I did the corporate banking thing. I met my husband. I got married. I had our first child. And so, know, that window of time, I actually didn't really find myself in that question of what is my purpose. My twenties flowed pretty well for me. Of course, I went through different relationships and things, but I don't remember really having this identity crisis of what is my purpose. And interestingly, that it's that moment of becoming a new mom where my entire identity had shifted. And of course, it's beautiful, right? It's like, you know, for those of us that wanted to be moms, it's what we dream of. But at the same time, I went through this feeling of feeling lost because it's such a sudden, drastic change from what you have been doing. And it becomes this like daily, what am I doing in this moment right now? So you also go through these phases of wondering, at least I did, I'm sure a lot of people do actually know definitively that they're either going to stay home or they're going to go back to work. And I did not. I was like, am I going to go back to work? Am I getting back into my career? And when I made that choice that I was going to stay home, then the question became like, who am I if I am not like achieving in my career? That is how I had defined my purpose. That is what I just spent 10 years doing. And I remember being on a walk with a friend and expressing that. And she was about a year and half ahead of me into the motherhood journey. And it does seem crazy to say it out loud now, but I actually said to her while we were walking, we're like pushing our strollers with our babies in them and I just like, I just actually don't know what my purpose is. And it's so interesting how God delivers the messages that you need to hear from your friends at the right time. And she was like, well, this is our purpose. Like being moms, we're nurturing our children, we're keeping them alive. This is our purpose. And I actually needed to hear that. I needed to hear that externally. It's so interesting to say that it's very clear in hindsight, but when you're in that moment of a massive life change, it wasn't clear. I felt like I had lost my purpose. And I needed her to reflect that to me and to truly normalize that experience of like, yeah, we shifted, but now this is our stage and when we transition, this gets to be our next purpose. And so that's the first time that I really learned and realized that maybe I was asking the wrong question entirely.

And so this pulls into me the question of life purpose versus soul purpose. Like what does the word purpose even mean to you? It's different for all of us. We all have our own stories behind what that word means. So there isn't a right or wrong and we can often over analyze it because that's what our interesting brains love to do. But a cool framework is to allow ourselves to think through the difference. So a life purpose has its stages. Just like I had a purpose that I wasn't even questioning when I had a career. It was fulfilling. And at the time, that was my definition and that's the definition that most people think of when they first think of purpose. It's like, what is my career? What am I doing day to day? And then after my corporate career, my purpose became taking care of my kids.

So those roles that we play, the work that we do and the goals that we want to achieve, those are all so beautiful and necessary. Like that's the actual part of this beautiful life that we're living in. And they can and they will evolve throughout our lives because we are ever evolving and changing. And that's super interesting to think about. So that's a story of being a new parent as a baby and now jumping into that I am an empty nester on the other end of the parenting journey. And that again, this is really when people hit their true midlife crisis, right? You've spent 18, 20, 22 years raising your kids. And then you ask again, well now, what is my purpose? So many moms have spent this enormous chunk of their lives and their purpose was being a mom. And there was this huge success because they've become young adults and they're going out and they're living their lives, but it leaves this hole because it's a transition of now what is my purpose.

And it's just interesting to think about that there is a pressure, that we're taught a pressure that's inherent in the way that we think that we're conditioned, that we always want to find the one purpose. We want to know what are we supposed to be doing right now? And the shift that I want to invite in for you is what if the journey of discovering and exploring and evolving is the purpose.

I'm so grateful because one of the many trainings and certifications that I have is being a certified life coach and a certified professional coach. And I did both of those levels of training through the Life Purpose Institute. And I chose them because the name resonated with me so much. And it did also have a spiritual spin to it as well so that just completely spoke to me and who I am. And this is a fun story. I remember I was so excited when I was going through all of that training and both of my boys were still living at home at the time. They were in high school. And I remember one of my sons listening to me talk about my excitement about the trainings and what I was learning. And he was like, so you're a life purpose is to help other people with their life purpose. And I was like, yes, actually that is correct. That is what I'm going to do with the next stage of my life. And I love that even in the five plus years since then, it's grown and evolved to where for me, what I've realized is I want to help people connect this sole purpose because that has become so important to me and my message and what I wanna share with all of you.

So I see soul purpose, of course, is that spiritual side as your essence, your gifts, your unique energetic signature. This is much more about who you are than what you do. So it's your true north. It's that constant thread that is always there through all the stages of your life purpose. Just think of it as how a river flows. Like a river is just flowing. It doesn't really have a destination. Like yes, it might meet with another river and then that meets with a lake or meets with the ocean or the golf. But it's really just flowing. And that's how I see the sole purpose is this true north, this flow, this guiding light for all of our life journey and all of those life purposes that we have along the way. And I just want to note here that this is actually a spiritual teaching as well. This is ancient wisdom. Spiritual traditions have always taught that the path itself is sacred. And I feel like that has been such an important part of my journey of realizing that when we tap into the wisdom that lives within us, the whispers of our heart and soul, that allows us to step into a lot of possibilities, a lot of timelines, and it takes the pressure off of finding the perfect life purpose, right? That is not the goal. We get to give ourselves permission to evolve. We get to give ourselves permission to experiment. We get to give ourselves permission to follow what lights you up in each season of life, because that gets to change. And you can feel that in your energy.

So we've talked a lot about energy in previous episodes of this podcast. And when you understand this concept, of how you feel and what your vibration is, what your frequency and resonance is, that your soul path is less about what you do and more about how your energy feels along the way, that opens up all the possibilities. You can make almost any path be your highest path when you shift your energy. When you shift how you are vibrating. What is your frequency? What is your aura? What is the energy that you're bringing into the journey that you're on? That's going to light up your soul's purpose.

And let's bring that back into a practical application. Let's explore, like, how do you find what lights you up? I know a super common response to this, especially for other women in my age range, is that we don't even know anymore, right? We don't have time to figure it out. We've had too many responsibilities. Maybe you're just in the empty nester stage and maybe you're not working and then there's also just this like melancholy feeling that doesn't let you find your joy. Whether you're working or not, right? You can get to the stage that it's hard to find your spark and you don't even know what you want to do.

So that's where I invite you to play. Inviting the concept of allowing yourself to have like this personal navigation system like your internal GPS and go through an exploration process. This is something that I do one-on-one with my clients if you want help with it but it's something you can do on your own as well. You could look at a timeline of your life and think about what really lit you up at certain stages of your life and is that something you want to explore again? Like, is there something from your childhood or young adulthood that you're like, you know what, I really want to bring that back into my life. I loved it so much. And I always think, I should take that dance class again, or I really loved when I did that art class. Or on the flip side, is there something else that you haven't ever experimented with or played with, but in your mind you're like, actually, I've always wanted to learn that. I've always wanted to try something like that. So this can be hobbies or skills. It could be starting a business. It could be super creative and thinking about ways that you can put different parts of things that you love together and create your own unique new life purpose that ties into all those things that you love. And that ties into your bigger soul purpose.

Another way to really explore what you want to be doing at this stage in your life is to define your core values. This is actually such a cool process because it gives you a foundation and it gives you a great understanding of who you really are and it takes some time. You have to be intentional to set aside some time and really think through what are the values that define first who I am and what do I want to stand for? And it's so impactful to do this even, you know, every year, every 5 years, every 10 years, because this is allowed to change over time. We change as people. So our core values when we're 23 are going to be really different from our core values at 43. But when you define them, when you take the time to do that, you have this very powerful tool that gives you a decision-making foundation to work from.

You know, we always hear about people doing this in a corporate environment, in a team environment, in a business. You create a mission statement and then you create a vision statement and you do that through knowing your core values. And we can actually do that for our lives. It's a really impactful, smart thing to do for our lives. So I invite you to decide to do that. You sit back and you say, I am going to create a mission statement for my life, I am going to create a vision statement for my life, and I am basing that off of these core values. And when you tie that all together, it's so empowering. It's given you a written version of your true north. It gives you this ability to make decisions that allow you to get fired up instead of just going through the process day to day. It really helps you dive into your own creativity. And so then this mission statement and this vision statement become your own personal spiritual GPS, that spiritual navigation system that has real life practicality. It's not rigid rules. It's your guiding light.

You know, in my life, this is kind of how my book came to be. Like, why did I write a book? Right? Like, who am I? And I still don't totally know the answer to that. But as I sat back and I thought about my values, my mission, my vision, I knew that I wanted to create a legacy that shares these messages that are on my heart and soul that we're talking about here on this podcast, that I talk about in my book. And so in order to create this lasting piece of work, a book, I needed to know what my values were. I needed to evaluate a mission statement and a vision statement. And that served as to how I could fulfill my life purpose at that point in time. And of course that also could become this part of a greater thread that the book feeds into my soul purpose. And that definitely took commitment. It took work. It was hard to write the book. It was hard to stick to it. And so I want to reiterate that, that I am not trying to say that following your soul path and purpose is always easy. Like it's not in the practical nature of things, but it's so fulfilling. If you find the things that make you come alive, that you're proud of the work that you're done, that you're proud of the impact that you're making, then you know that you're on the right path.

So that's a great journaling prompt for you, is to reflect on when do you feel most alive? What really lights you up? When have you made yourself so proud? And what would it look like to make yourself proud again?

And if you spend time going through this process of exploration, of doing the core value work, of writing a mission and vision statement, that is going to become so much more clear to you. And again, this is something that I do in one-on-one sessions with clients, but hopefully that serves you to be able to start working on it for yourself. And that allows you to move into the soul purpose work that is the deeper work because moving into it, moving beyond what the mind is telling you and moving into your soul, knowing, listening to that spiritual personal navigation system, it lets you find your true north. You're going to be able to recognize consistent themes from your soul that have showed up on your life path when you have felt most in your purpose and that helps you create the vision of what you want to create in the future on your path. And just know that all of this lives within you. It's all in your inner wisdom. And you can tap into your true gifts and your essence and light up your energy and your aura by doing the practices that you hear me talk about. And that is meditation, breath work, visualization, a yoga nidra practice, which is a really deep meditation that maybe helps you heal some blocks of not being able to see what you want to see. This actually came up on the retreat in the resource that at the very end, one of the women like so beautifully shared, she was like, you know, this is like going to therapy but without having to do all the talking because when you allow yourself to drop into this deep, sacred listening of your heart, your soul, your intuition, your inner wisdom, the answers come to you. You just have to intentionally take the pause, slow down, and listen to the inner wisdom, and these answers come to you. So I was so grateful that she shared that.

That is also why I moved into this space of beyond the life coaching, I started studying energy and I do offer energy readings and soul path and purpose readings, which are beautiful, intuitive reflections of what's going on in your energy body, that I do ask for messages from your guardian angels, from your spirit guides, and it's a mirror. It helps you see your gifts, your essence, and it's your soul reflecting back to you what your true north is, what your soul's highest path and purpose is. And this allows you to illuminate that for all of your journey, for all of your life purposes and all of those stages. I am always blown away at how beautiful the messages are that come through. I also pull cards in these sessions and I'm really deeply honored to all of the beautiful souls that have allowed me to read their energy and share that with my clients who decide to dive into that version. It's just a deeper level. So if that calls out to you, if it resonates, just reach out. That is also available in single sessions. And I would love to do an energy reading session for you to really illuminate that soul path and purpose for you.

So my closing message here is just know that you really can't get this wrong. I feel like if you're here and you're listening to this podcast, you're on this journey of interest and spirituality in living into your soul's path and fulfilling that in a practical way, fulfilling that through your life purpose and the responsibilities of every day. And your soul path isn't something that's outside of you. It's woven into every choice, every season, every step. And just remember that the journey itself is what's sacred. The journey is the purpose. So my invitation for you is simple. It's to trust what lights you up, to follow those threads and to hold on to the statement. Know that your journey is your purpose.

If you are looking for support in that, I do the values and mission and vision statement sessions. I also do the energy readings that I mentioned and we're getting there in different ways, but both of them will reflect such beautiful, true messages of your gifts and your essence. So you can find the links to connect with me in the show notes.

Thank you so much for spending this time with me today. I hope this conversation reminded you that you don't need to have everything figured out to be living on purpose and in your purpose. Just remember, until next time, you are exactly where you need to be and just trust those whispers of your heart and soul and they will always lead you on the right path. Have a great week, my friend. See you next time.
