Season 2: Episode 13- The Gift of Your Inner Peace
Hello, my friend. We are in the thick of it, right? It is December, it is the holiday season. Like, as soon as this lands, the countdown is on. And we just feel that pressure, right? Like, are you standing in a crowded store? Does anybody still shop at the malls in crowded stores? I do so much online shopping. But so then there's that, right? You're scrolling through your gift list at 11 o'clock at night, you're saying yes to another party because it is so fun to see everyone, but your body, your nervous system might be screaming no. And that is not just holiday stress, right? This beautiful season, we have this gift-giving season, but we have to give ourselves permission to receive as well.
And our nervous system is literally begging us for tools like sound healing. And so I want to really dive into that today. And because it is the holiday season, I'm going to keep these short and sweet for the whole month. And also, just so you know, you might hear my dog in today's episode. We had a little emergency with her and I usually send her off to daycare when I record podcasts but she is gonna be home with me for a few weeks because she had an acute glaucoma situation and lost her vision within like a couple of days and was in a lot of pain. It was crazy. So if anybody's dealt with that, reach out and tell me about it, because that's been crazy. So again, my nervous system had another thing to deal with over the holiday season.
Let's dive into what this really means because of course we're wired for connection and celebration and gathering and that is such a gift that we get to do that and why is it then that at the same time we feel like it's running us into the ground, that we feel just stressed and physiologically overwhelmed? That is because that is our sympathetic nervous system. So that's science behind it, that fight or flight response. It's just that it's working overtime. It still thinks we're being chased by a bear but we're just really trying to buy the perfect gift or host the perfect dinner or, you know, this even be this best version of ourself for everyone around you. And what's so interesting about that is this is why having tools to create energetic vitality is so important. It is an energetic perspective that our nervous system needs us to take because it doesn't understand the difference between a physical threat and emotional overwhelm, right? And so when we allow time, when we think through the things of what does our nervous system need? It needs safety, it needs space. And I happen to know, I've seen it happen that there is this beauty that comes with sound and resonance and frequency that is a sonic recalibration. I have seen it in people who come into my sound baths. They can have all sorts of, know, life throws a lot at us. There could be traumatic things that happen, just stressful things that happen and they're finally able to drop in and receive a sense of peace.
So let's walk through those things, right? Safety, that doesn't mean that there's an absence of challenge, right? It's just that we're teaching our bodies to trust that we're not actually in danger. It means creating those conditions where your parasympathetic nervous system, that is what you hear called the rest and digest response. You turn it on. It can come online by creating safety. And then the space means that you're actually creating this literal physical energetic room to breathe. So it's not just finding the time in your calendar, because that's what tells us that we can't do it because we don't have time. But it's actually just creating spaciousness in your energy, in your field, in your aura, how you walk around because when you're compressed by your obligations, then your nervous system compresses too. So again, this is where sound can really, really help you because your nervous system does actually communicate through vibration. Every thought, every emotion, every stress response, it has a vibrational frequency in your body. And so when those things get stuck and anxiety becomes your baseline or tension becomes your normal, which is what's happening in the holiday season, you need to give your nervous system something that it actually understands. And that is where breath comes in and that is where sound comes in and giving yourself stillness.
Because you can talk yourself through stress all day long, but still feel it in your body, right? Your cognitive mind, your thinking mind is like, I'm fine, I'm fine, I'm fine. But your nervous system is vibrating at the frequency of, I'm not safe, this is too much, I'm so tired. But this is what I love about using sound, and I'll get into what I mean by that, because it doesn't have to be like just going to a sound bath. But using sound even if that is a vibration even if that's humming it works because it doesn't rely on your thinking mind it bypasses those mental loops and speaks directly to your cellular intelligence. You can feel it in your body so when you experience sound healing whether it's the crystal singing balls that I love or a gong or tuning forks that you might own, or like I said, just even your own voice in humming, in mantras, in breath work, you are literally giving your nervous system a different frequency that it can entrain to. There's this whole entrainment concept that our brain waves entrain themselves into a different frequency. So you're offering it as an invitation to recalibrate. And again, this is what I've witnessed over and over in my sound bath sessions is when people give themselves and their nervous system permission to relax and release, everything shifts, the shoulders drop, the breath deepens, the face softens, and you can finally feel a sense of inner peace. And that is literally what I want for everyone. And that is what we all want in the holidays, right?
It's so interesting because it feels like everything is speeding up during the holidays. And what we all actually want is inner peace and presence and this awareness of love and connection, right? So this is how your nervous system works. It is designed to regulate through co-regulation with sound healing, through rhythm, through resonance.
And this is actually something that you can gift others and you can gift yourself. So in this time of gifting, let's talk about that. And what about this year? Instead of like gifting another candle or a gift card or something that sits on a shelf, what if you gave someone the experience of genuine rest? not Netflix, not scroll on your phone, rest. But the kind of rest that happens in sound healing, in a sound bath. That is when your nervous system finally feels safe enough to let go because you're held in a space of vibration. You don't have to do anything or fix anything or be anything. It's just where you get to receive and that's what sound healing offers.
And here's why it matters. We live in a culture that treats rest as reward for productivity, that we have to earn our rest. That you have to deserve your downtime and that rest is something that happens when you've checked everything off your list, which, let's be honest, that never actually happens, right? So what if we flip that? What if rest is not the reward, but rest is the foundation? So what if the most productive thing you could do, the most generous thing, is to give yourself and the people you love permission to truly rest. yes, I offer private one-on-one sound bath experiences. So when you gift a sound bath, you're not just giving someone an hour of their time back, you're giving them the permission to release, to rest, to let their body let go of some of that stress and you're just giving them permission into this portal of a different way of being.
And you've probably heard me say again and again that true abundance is success of the soul. And the foundation of that doesn't come from doing more. Yes, there's inspired action down the road, but it really comes from being present. It really comes from tapping into inner peace, which then helps you tap into inner bliss. And what I really love about that is that in this idea of gifting yourself or gifting someone you love, rest through sound. It's actually one of the most valuable things that you can do for yourself. It is disrupting our programming to say, you know, we are valuable, we are worth it, even when we're resting.
So yes, how do you gift nervous system healing through sound? You could gift a sound bath experience with me, with other sound healers. You could give a gift certificate to a group session somewhere. I do private one-on-one sessions, both in person and on Zoom. And so this is perfect for the person in your life who gives to everyone else and never stops to receive.
I also had this super fun idea this year and I created some sound healing gift boxes, which I'm super excited about. So it's like a sound sanctuary retreat in a box. And it's just this curated collection of some sound healing tools that you can use at home, as well as some of my other favorite things that are energetic tools. So you know setting the stage with candles and a Palo Santo stick, as well as the sage bundle there's some crystals in there there is my book in there so it can be put together custom as well so you can just reach out to me through email or on Instagram at @KristenSvetsCoaching and we can custom curate exactly what you want the box to have, or you can do the standard that I've put together. But I love this because it is not just a gift, it is this invitation to practice. And within that, I'm also including some of my recorded sound meditations. So there's an eye pillow in them and you can lay back and when you're not using your own tools and you want to listen to one of my recorded sound baths, that comes with a box, which I'm super excited about. I think it's great.
Now, of course, you could also gift your own presence to yourself. Gift it to yourself in rest. There are restorative experiences all around you. Find a restore class, a yin yoga class, a meditation circle. I am super excited to share also that I started uploading some free meditations on Insight Timer, so please come follow me over there. It's just Kristen Svets. And I will start doing some lives over there. And everything on Insight Timer is free. Well, at least it's free on the front end. And then of course they have ways to upgrade. But I'll have sound journeys on there, meditation circles. So either with me or whoever your favorite facilitator and guide is, this can be the most powerful gift to yourself. And then you could also even gift that to a best friend, a sister, and maybe you say, let's do this together. Let's rest together. How powerful is that?
And of course, just remind yourself that gift giving resonates when it comes from someone that isn't running on empty. Right? So when your nervous system is maxed out and you're not actually present for the people that you love, it creates a disconnect. Right? So remind yourself that when you book that sound bath or carve out whatever your sacred pause is, deep sacred rest is what I always love to call it in my sound bath. Just give yourself permission to receive the rest that your body is begging for. And what's gonna happen is you're gonna tap into more of that inner peace that lives within you. You're gonna tap into more presence. You're going to respond instead of react. And that increases this capacity for joy. So instead of just surviving the holiday season, you can become this living example of what is possible when rest is the foundation of how you operate and how you elevate your energy instead of the reward. It's the foundation.
So that is my invitation to you, is listen to what your nervous system is really asking for, not what your to-do list says that you have to do. Your body is wise and intelligent and it is actually a vibrational body and it's trying to tell you something. So honor it and give yourself the gift of rest. Give the people you love an invitation into a genuine renewal and restoration. Because we all know that the holidays aren't actually about the perfect gift. They're about presence and connection and being fully here for the moments that matter. So let's reclaim this season together and just reach out to find the best fit for you or the gift that you want to give to your loved ones. I love hearing from you.
Thank you so much for being here and listening and I wish you the gift of deep, sacred rest this holiday season. As always, remember that true abundance is success of the soul. I'm so grateful for you guys being here. Happy holidays. I still have one more episode coming out this week and then we will take off on the 23rd. So have a great week and find some rest.
