Season 2: Episode 1 - Welcome Back, the Power of a Pause
Hello, my friends. Welcome to the relaunch of the Abundant By Design podcast. I am so excited to be back here with you. For my original listeners, can you believe it has actually been three years? My last podcast episode was released in November of 2022, which is crazy.
For those of you that are new listeners, maybe you didn't even know me three years ago, welcome and know that you can go back and listen to the first 24 episodes of the Abundant By Design podcast. I really feel that the messages and the recordings that I made are timeless and there are some meditations in there as well. So I'm really proud of that and I have really missed connecting with all of you this way. It's been calling me to relaunch this and now I'm finally doing it. So this episode, I just wanted to kind of explain where I've been for the past three years, why I paused it, what I've been doing and where I'm going. So this will be a shorter episode and it's really just more of a life update and reconnecting with all of you.
So part of the reason that I paused the podcast back in the fall of 2022 is because I was writing my book. And for those of you that don't know, I have a book. It's called Design to Shine, Living Intentionally to Discover Your Inner Light. And I had been working on that for probably about 18 months in the fall of 22.
The book was actually still not published until December of 23. So that whole process takes so much energy and so much focus. And I really thought that I could launch the podcast and write and publish the book at the same time. But I finally had gotten to a place where I realized that the creativity and the focus that it takes to create a podcast was holding me back from getting more traction on my book. So that was the original reason that I paused it. I was like, you have got to focus, Kristin. You've got to get this book done. It's on your bucket list. You said you were going to do it. Let's do it. We can always come back to the podcast. So that was the original reason for the pause. I did not expect it to be three years before I relaunched the podcast. It was always my intention to come back.
But time is interesting and life is interesting, right? And I had been studying a lot of different things. I've been, you know, going through becoming an empty nester and all of the things that happened with that. And I just didn't feel called until now to start recording again.
I am super proud of my book. I will do an entire episode about self-publishing. It was such an incredible process and I'm actually so grateful I got it done before this age of AI because it feels to me like this actual piece of art, an actual legacy that I created and gets to be out there. So it doesn't matter that, you know.
It wasn't on the New York Times bestseller. didn't make me famous, but that's okay. It's not even two years old. And I feel like the number of people, the ripple effect that my book can have is something that I'm really proud of. And, and that's even been something that I've been dealing with. So the book title is designed to shine and I think putting it out into the world that there is like a vulnerability hangover with doing that. So I think that's also part of why I haven't come back for a while on this podcast is because when you put so much of yourself out there, at least for me and my nervous system, it was a lot and I didn't really feel comfortable stepping into the spotlight with it the way that you're supposed to have going on a book tour and doing all of the things that they say you're supposed to do, whoever that is. And I've really moved into such a better place. This is what I love about life and about just observing each other, observing ourselves, observing the human psyche, right?
That I actually feel like now I can really share my book and it's almost two years after having it be published. So that's fascinating. It's a thing I've been working on and processing through. And like I said, I'll do an entire episode just about actually publishing a book.
In terms of life over the past three years, so I have two boys in their early 20s. One just graduated from college this past May. The second one is a junior in college as of right now, August of 2025. And so just the travel and also the energy that that takes of going through this empty nester process, going through the transition of parenting from afar, parenting at a different level. It's a really different role that you have. This could also be its own podcast topic. And that's taken a lot of my energy to figure out who am I now in that role, right? So the boys are great.
super happy with everything that's going on with them. So it isn't, I'm not even alluding to that it was challenging or issues with them. It's just a challenging transition of life. So that's been going on for the past few years in terms of my business where I feel like I might have some new listeners here that didn't know me three years ago. I really dove into sound baths and sound healing. I had been to some sound baths, you know, previously before I decided that I also wanted to do it. And I actually had had a couple of experiences that were not great that I did not love. And sound baths are really like music, right? So there are some people out there that you're gonna resonate wit some people that you're not and everybody has different tastes and everybody has different training levels and So it's very much just it's the same it's like finding your favorite yoga studio five finding your favorite Pilates instructor right you just resonate who you resonate with and in August of 22 is When I was on a retreat in Malibu, it was a business retreat for spiritual entrepreneurs and we had the most gorgeous sound bath, like tears were running down my face. And I was like, oh, I really want to dive into this. This is the style that I like. This is the healing that I'm looking to have for both myself and to share with other people. Because what's so beautiful about sound baths is that it just moves the stuck energy for you don't even have to analyze it or know what it is. It just recalibrates your system and it's so powerful and I love it so much. And so that has been a big part of my journey for the past couple of years and it's taken me to some great places. I've done some large corporate events. I have done private parties. I have done small groups, I've done individual sound healing, I have some great friends at studios that I'm a regular at, and I am so grateful for that experience.
And at the same time, it's also challenging to balance that physically for those of you that know me, don't know me, I'm 54, and I created a situation where I have a lot of instruments to lug around. And so there was even a point of some facilitator burnout on my end, right? So it's really interesting. Again, this is what I love about life is figuring out this ebb and flow, this balance, this yin and yang. And that when we are intentional about, intentional, that's not a word, but when we use intention to figure out what are our values, what lights up our soul and sound healing does that for me. Breathwork does that for me. Helping people to move stuck energy lights up my soul. And so it's been really, really rewarding. And at the same time, there is the balance of figuring out how much of that I want to do. So that also led me into a couple of other really like diverse things. Over the past couple of years, I have dove into energy reading.
So yes, I mean like, the vibration that you are putting off your energy, your aura, your chakras, reading Akashic records. If you've heard of those, I'll explain them another time. But there's, I learned how to read your energy and that has been such a beautiful experience to share with people that Basically, is a mirroring back to you what you already know that your soul has been whispering to you. And then I'm able to share that with you and help get some clarity on things. So I have not trained like down the hole, you know, trying to do predictions or psychic level medium stuff that is not at all what I'm doing. I started offering these soul path and purpose sessions that I really feel like the beautiful part of the experience is that it is a reflection of your soul and it's messages that you need to hear that you actually already know in your being are true and you get it married back to you. And that's so empowering. So that's a path I went down. There's Oracle card pulls that I do in those, which I also am always blown away by. I used to pull cards and say like, this deck is crazy. You wouldn't believe the messages that it gives to people. And then I finally had to admit like, oh, it's actually me pulling the cards with those people.
energy. not the deck, right? It's the intention behind it. It's, it's how it's used. And it's actually just something that I've loved to do. So that's been a part of my journey for the past year. So, fun side note, I've become a huge crystal collector. Like, my gosh, I'm sure my husband is like, what is going on with the number of rocks in this house? And I really feel like they've also helped me a lot on this journey on this midlife journey on, you know, moving into the empty nesting stage of figuring out my own sole purpose within my business. And it's super interesting because I love crystal so much, but no, I'm not going to open a crystal store and no, I'm not going to start selling crystals, but wow, do I love them. And I have learned a lot about them. So this is the thing, right? Like, we always get to change. We always get to continue to grow and evolve and follow our interests. And I think that's an interesting part of being about the stage, being in this stage of life where you're raising your kids and you're so caught up in that. And then you get to this stage of Like it's lovely that it's stair stepping because when they're still home, they're teenagers, they're so busy, they're not around as much. And so it just gives you this stair step and this gradual time to also figure out, Hmm, what is it that would make me feel more fulfilled? What is it in my life that might be missing? How can I be more intentional with how I am every day to feel more connected? Whether that is spiritual, emotional, physical connection is the path to our happiness. And I actually think we want it on all the different levels. So it gets to be this evolution where we learn and we explore.
And that is my goal with being back here and bringing the podcast back is to share with all of you what I am learning and exploring and doing.
The reason that I want to do that is to help you live more in alignment with your soul's highest path and purpose. always we're bringing that back in to how to use it in our daily life. I think it's actually very common in the personal development, spiritual world to get into a space that is not very grounded. And that is actually the opposite of who I am. I feel so grounded that that actually feels like one of my purposes in life is to help others be grounded into their bodies, into the present moment and into...their highest path and purpose so that they are happy, fulfilled, connected. So that's what we're gonna do here. So if that speaks to you, please continue to come back, please share, please subscribe. I am going to start off with a few solo episodes and then I am going to continue to grow the podcast by interviewing people. want to bring in, there are so many amazing women out there and amazing men in all these different modalities that can help us through this thing called life, right? Pulling in some prints there. It's really such a gift to be able to learn from all of these other modalities, all of these other people. And that is my goal is to bring in and share with you the insights and the wisdom. And if you are on a similar path and you would like to be a guest on my podcast, I would love to connect with you. So always feel free to reach out at hello at KristenSpetz.com. I would love to chat with you on that.
And as we wrap this up, feel like I also left out the other umbrella of work that I do is money mindset and financial coaching for small businesses. So I have my MBA in finance and I was not ever looking to go back to corporate and do the whole finance world there. I did it before kids and it was great at that point in time and it's not what I want now, but I do have that knowledge.
along with all of the coaching certifications and experience that I have. So if you are also a small business owner and you are looking for a session to really actually understand your finances, the way that a CFO would look at them from a strategic standpoint and anybody who owns their own business knows entrepreneurship. is a personal growth journey. So there is a lot of money mindset work that everybody has. We all have money stories. So that is a whole other business I have called illuminated finance. And I do 90 minute sessions and I do full VIP days, which the fit is dependent upon the size of your company and the investment that you want to make. So you can always reach out to me about that as well. So yes, I am a multi-passionate woman who loves personal growth and development, who loves spirituality, who loves exploring how to raise our vibration and to help the collective. And so I do that in a variety of ways. And this podcast is going to be a source to bring that all together to share it with you. And I have quite a few other ideas coming out that I can't wait to share with you as they unfold. And really, I just want to create a deeper sense of connection and community. And so I'm looking for ways to do that as well.
Thank you so much for being here today. Thank you for listening. Again, please like the podcast, share it, subscribe, all of the things. Let me know what you thought. Let me know what resonated. I truly honestly love to hear from you. And we have so much to talk about that I can't wait to be back with you so soon. Thanks so much.
