Community... Sanctuary Sunday

Community is our life force. I saw a beautiful quote recently that said something to the effect of "grief is cut in half and joy is doubled when you are held in community." It resonates with me so much, as I have experienced that to be true in my own life. And it reinforces our actual need for a strong community.

In ancient times, humans lived in tight-knit communities, where mutual support was a way of life. People shared resources, celebrated joys, and comforted one another in times of sorrow. These close bonds not only ensured survival but also enriched their lives with a sense of belonging and purpose.

In today's fast-paced world, building community requires intention and effort. We have to decide where we want to cultivate that greater sense of connection and belonging, and choose to actively foster that through outreach and involvement. In community, we find understanding, compassion, and a sense of unity that fosters personal growth and collective well-being.

As I enter the empty nest stage and send kids off to college, I know the power of community to uplift and hold each other through this big life transition. Check out more details below if you or someone you love would like to connect in community on this topic!

Visualization and Journal Prompt: Imagine your ideal community, a place where you feel fully seen, heard, and supported. Describe the attributes and qualities of this community and consider actionable steps to bring this vision to life.

With gratitude,

Kristin
